This is what I use on the majority of the machines that run in my house. It runs smooth, it runs without having to reboot it three times a day or even three times a week. I very much enjoy not having to reboot my machine after updating software. Yes I run three servers in one of the many rooms in my house, keeping software up to date is a major chore, especially when you consider that a windows license for each of these machines would run me into several $$$. I can also do so much more with so much less, its just ridiculous. I have two different database servers, with two types of databases, a music server in training, three web servers, lots of places to store stuff. All with firewalls inside and outside. Intrusion detection as well as a few other things. Its a place to experiment and to boot, I have not paid more than 100$ for any one machine. I leave these machines up for weeks, even months at a time. Anyway, the new version (7.10) Gutsy Gibbon is now available for download and deployment. For those of you that are unaware, this version marks a significant advance in open source progression. This distro and others like it, have become in effect as user friendly, if not more so than that operating system that comes from Redmond, every few years when someone thinks that they need to exercise some stock options. Consider this guys, if no one bought a new computer, not many folks would buy your OS, you crack dealers. I could go on down that line, but if you look at all of the cottage industries that have sprung up around the inability to create a stable operating system. All that I can ask is that you take a look and give it a try, it's simple now, you can even slap it on a machine and not make a long term commitment to having it. Try the software.
